Congratulations to KYA students for receiving a “Delegation of Excellence” award while at the conference.
The bill Presented by Josh Visingardi, Keegan Slone, Peyton Phillips, and Cade Bleidt proposing to limit welfare benefits for able bodied Kentucky Citizens not only passed both chambers, but was also awarded the “Best Premiere Bill” of the conference.
Also presenting Premiere bills and passing both chambers was the bill proposing the banning of LED headlights on KY highways. This bill was presented by Maggie Snodgrass, Bryce Cunningham, Megan Popplewell, and Kierslyn Thomas.
Two other bills were presented by Trigg County students but were defeated in the house or Senate. One bill proposing stricter texting laws was presented by Jordan Vinson, Avery Harper, Claire Ladd, and Lexie Oliver, and a bill prosing age restrictions on types of guns used by Kentucky youths, at shooting ranges, based on gun recoil was presented by Jackson Hiter, Hayden Rogers, Alex Ethridge, and Autumn Durham.
Individual Awards went to Megan Popplewell for outstanding delegate and Keegan Slone for Outstanding speaker
