Trigg County Health Department to hold School Physical Day

The Trigg County Health Department will be holding a School Physical Day on August 2nd, 2018, for students needing school physicals or vaccines.  Appointments will fill up quickly, so please see the attached flyer and call today!

Seeking Applicants for Substitute Teachers

We are currently seeking applicants for Substitute Teachers.  Our next Substitute Teacher training will be held in January.  To qualify, applicants must have a valid State of Kentucky Teaching Certificate or Emergency Certificate for Substitute Teaching (Approved and Issued by local school board for applications with a minimum of 64 college hours from an accredited college or university and a 2.5 GPA) .

Trigg County High School to Offer FAFSA Workshops

Seniors Must Complete the FAFSA Starting Oct. 1 to be Eligible for Federal Financial Aid.  Trigg County High School will offer three FAFSA workshops in October. Workshops will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 3; Tuesday, October 17; and Monday, Oct. 23. All workshops will take place in the high school from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Kindergarten Entry Age Cutoff Moves to August 1

Beginning with the upcoming school year, children entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before August 1. Up until now, the cutoff was October 1.  Click "Read more" for details regarding this change.

13th Annual Gala of Tables

48 local businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations sponsored beautiful and creative tables in our newly-remodeled cafeteria on the opening day of school for all staff members.  The Board of Directors hosted our 13th annual Gala of Tables, with the Cadiz Restaurant cooking a wonderful breakfast for us to enjoy. Our keynote speaker was Rob Riordan, Ed.D, co-founder of High Tech High.  Thanks to everyone in the community who partners with TCPS to help empower our students to be the best!! We're excited to see all of our students and begin a new school year on August 4.

Trigg County Farm Directs Donation to Trigg County Public Schools

Trigg County Public Schools preschool program has received a $2,500 donation from America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund and directed by Seven Springs Farms of Trigg County. The donation will help the organization install a raised-bed garden to be used by preschool students each year.

Trigg County Public Schools will be hosting a Community Cafe on March 14, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting will be to gain input and feedback on the 5 year strategic plan. It is necessary to RSVP by Thursday, March 10, 2016 if you are interested in attending.

Special Screening of Beyond Measure shown to Community Members

Kentucky educators, board members, community members, parents and students recently viewed a special screening of Beyond Measure, a film of inspiring stories from the forefront of innovation in education.  From the makers of Race to Nowhere, the film featured Trigg County students and staff members.  Vicki Abeles, producer and director, and Mark Smith, cinemaphotographer, were on hand and held a question and answer session after the film.  For more information about the innovative work that is being done in Trigg County Schools, contact Travis Hamby, Superintendent, at 270-522-6075.

DECA State Conference Winners

Trigg County was represented well at the KY DECA State Career Development Conference held March 8-10, 2015. Of the 43 students who attended, 19 qualified and are planning on competing at the International Career Development Conference in Orlando, FL, April 24-29, 2015.

Trigg County Arrowcats Qualify for Nationals

Congratulations to the Trigg County Arrowcats on their performance in the NASP Kentucky State Tournament in Louisville, KY.  The Trigg County High School Arrowcat Team placed 1st. Both the Elementary and Middle School teams placed 6th in the State.  All three teams are now qualified to attend the National Archery Tournament on May 7th-9th in Louisville, KY.

Operation Preparation Training

The Operation Preparation in person training at the TCBE for March 12th has been cancelled.  You may still attend one of the other in person trainings on March 6th (12:00-12:30), March 16th (3:30-4:00), or March 18th (12:00-12:30).  The training is also available on-line on our website under Links.  If you have any questions, please contact Cammie Evans or Beth Sumner.

Trigg County Arrowcars Winter Warm-Up Tournament Results

The Trigg County Arrowcats hosted the Winter Warm Up tournament this weekend in the High School Gym with approximately 500 archers participating.  The Arrowcats will travel to Murray High School next Saturday for the Reindeer Games and Graves Co. High School the following Saturday.  The next home tournament will the Arrowcat Classic on Jan. 23rd and 24th.

Opportunity

The Kentucky Commissioner of Education is seeking applications to be considered for appointment to the Trigg County Board of Education. You are invited to nominate yourself or someone you know who is qualified to serve on the Trigg County Board of Education representing Educational Division #2.  This vacancy was created by the resignation of Mr. Donnie Holland.

Under the provisions of KRS 160.190(2), this appointment is effective until the end of the elected term, December 31, 2016.   

This is a public service position and the person appointed will not be employed by the Trigg County Public Schools.

Seven Trigg County High School Students Selected for Summer Academies

Seven Trigg County High School students have been selected to participate in the GEAR UP Kentucky Summer Academies. The summer academies are 3-week enrichment programs on a university campus and are sponsored by the GEAR UP Kentucky 3.0 program.

New Student Registration will be held in the Cafeteria on July 23 from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm.  This is a central registration event where families can register and  get information for all of their children from multiple schools at one location. 

 

Due to to the construction on our campus, to access the Cafeteria, please use Lafayette Street and use the entrance in the circular drive and not the main entrance of the Middle School.

Over 300 Staff Members view 2015 Sundance Film Documentary, Most Likely to Succeed

             

During a Professional Growth Day on October 12, TCPS Staff had the opportunity to view the 2015 Sundance Film Festival documentary Most Likely to Succeed / U.S.A. (Director: Greg Whiteley), which is a feature-length documentary examining the collision of innovation with our nation's obsolete education system. The documentary follows students, teachers and concerned parents at High Tech High in southern California, which is attempting to rethink what it means to be an educated young adult prepared for the 21st century.  To learn more about this project and 21st century learning, visit the film’s website http://mltsfilm.org.

Annual Asbestos AHERA Notice

 

July 8, 2016 - This notice informs you that Trigg County Schools complies with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA - EPA 40 CFR Part 763).  AHERA requires school systems to inspect their buildings for asbestos containing building materials and to have a written asbestos management plan.

 

An Asbestos Mangement Management Plan for the school district is available for review at the Central Office during normal business hours.  Please contact me if you would like to view this Plan.  A copy of the Plan is also available at each school.
